Preparation

I've finally gotten all the textbooks I need, after locating the elusive Talley & O'Conner!!! Well, except for Biochemistry but doubt I'll ever get one for that because Lippincot's the best and a flip through that was enough to deter me from buying. The words are terribly small, a warning sign of an onset of headaches as a result of future readings. The enzymatic reactions? Not even funny. I can't even begin to imagine how many I'll have to study, each page already has 2 diagrams - 2 reactions. And it is a thick book.

Now let me recite to you the story of Talley & O'Conner. This book wasn't supposed to be elusive. But as it happens, by a mere turn of events, actions really, committed by a really selfish person manning an old, disgusting and worn-out looking bookstore - let's call it Ew Bookstore. My schoolmates and I decided to pay the not-very-convenient Ew school where Ew Bookstore is located, a visit to purchase our textbooks. We realised that they didn't have the aforementioned book, so we made a nice little enquiry at the book counter and were told that they would be bringing new stock in.

As per book counter person's advice, we made reservations for the said book with a deposit of 80 dollars per book (they sell the very thin book at 120 dollars). After doing the math, not that there is much involved, it is obviously clear that the deposit placed is way more than half of the actual price.

Three weeks later, they call us to inform us that our books have arrived and to collect them. We went down the next day to collect the books and to our dismay, anger, and shock, (just anger actually), the salesperson coolly told us that they forgot about our reservation and had placed the books on the shelf for sale. And so, gone they were. When we had paid a lump enough deposit. When we had reserved in advance.

They even had the nerve to suggest despite our furious expressions, to wait for the arrival of the next order, which will arrive "oh we're not really sure when, mid-September maybe?".

We're leaving first week of September you nincompoops.

All in all, it was a futile trip, except that we left with the new-founded knowledge that this particular bookshop has extremely questionable business principles.
